Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary
The main principle on which the ROYAL DIGNITY of Mary rests, is in her Divine Mother hood.
For example, In (Luke 1: 31-32) Elizabeth calls her "The Mother of my Lord". This indicates, Mary as Queen, since she bore Jesus, whose sovereignty we do not doubt; because at the moment of his Conception, by the "hypostatic union" - (that is the human nature as one with the Divine) Jesus is both man and King of all things.
Mary as Mother of the Divine Christ shares in a limited way, His ROYAL DIGNITY because she enters his struggle with his enemies, and thereby his final victory over them. (We find in Revelations 12 mention of the woman clothed with the sun, and in the pangs of childbirth ~ the "dragon" awaits to eat the child as soon as it is born. She is "delivered of a boy" who is taken up to God and His throne. Hereafter a great battle ensues in heaven, and this battle continues, until all his enemies are put under his feet)
Mary aids in this fight, by way of her unique role. She is Mother of Jesus, and mother of all men and women, as Jesus gave her to us (symbolised by John the Evangelist) at the foot of the cross..."Seeing his Mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to His mother "Woman this is your Son." and to the disciple He said " This is your Mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home." (John 19:25-27)
Pope Pius the X11 published an encyclical letter, Ad Caeli Reginam on the Royal Dignity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her feast was instituted on October 11th 1954.
(Imprimature for this prayer; Joseph Schrembe D.D. Bishop of Cleveland Ohio.
